Dame Fiona Reynolds, DBE

Dame Fiona Reynolds DBE became Master of Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 2012. She came to the college after a long career in the voluntary sector, latterly as Director-General of the National Trust from 2001-2012. During her time as DG she made the Trust warmer and more welcoming, bringing the houses to life and raising the profile of the Trust’s work in the countryside. She is fascinated by land use and rural policy, and the way nature, history and beauty inspire people to want to become engaged in their protection. Fiona also holds a number of non-Executive roles, including Trustee of the Grosvenor Estate, a Non-Executive Director of Wessex Water and Member of the Advisory Panel for the Dasgupta Review of the Economics of Biodiversity Fiona was chair of Green Alliance from December 2014 to June 2021. Commenting on taking up the role, she said: “I’ve always admired Green Alliance for its intelligent positioning of the environmental case, incredible contacts and ability to reach the decision makers with persuasive and articulate arguments. I’m delighted to be taking over as chair of Green Alliance as it launches its ambitious new strategy to shape the next era of policy making”.
