Why the UK needs an ambitious clean growth plan now

Download

Date:

25 August, 2017

Summary

In the last two years, the UK became the first major world economy to announce a phase out of coal fired power, ratified the Paris Agreement on climate change and approved a fifth carbon budget, with emissions reduction targets up to 2032.

There have been no significant policy plans published since the fifth carbon budget was set in June 2016, and current policies fall short of meeting the fourth carbon budget.

This report, together with CAFOD, Christian Aid, Greenpeace, RSPB and WWF sets out the consequences of delaying low carbon policy for the power, transport and heat sectors, and showcases the opportunities that an ambitious clean growth plan would bring to the UK.
