A big leap for the Treasury

Green BudgetToday’s budget represented only a small step for mankind, but it was a big leap for the Treasury. Announcements on new money for carbon capture and storage are very welcome, and there are moves in the right direction on renewables and CHP.  This budget has shown that the Treasury is waking up to the urgency, but we need much more where this came from. Read our response >>

Events

Greener and wiser

Green Alliance, along with Natural England, Age Concern and Help the Aged, have convened a taskforce of older people to explore what they think about the environment. The taskforce has met over the past six months to develop a manifesto that sets out what they expect of government, business and their peers to increase the influence of older people on the green agenda. Lord Hunt of Defra will be launching the manifesto in London on Monday 11 May, 3.30-5.30pm. It will also be an opportunity to meet the taskforce. If you would like to attend contact Richard Booth.

Projects

Ecodesign

The EU's Ecodesign of energy-using products directive is a little known but hugely important process to drive energy efficiency improvements in a wide range of products, from boilers to vacuum cleaners. Green Alliance has just started new work on encouraging the UK to take an ambitious approach to this directive and make sure its potential is achieved. For more information contact Hannah Hislop.
