The UK has committed itself to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 60 per cent over the next 40 years, to reverse climate change. Should we turn to nuclear power to provide carbon-free energy?
Green Alliance argues that our energy needs, and environmental protection, are best served by an upsurge in the use of renewable energy, and through increasing the efficiency of energy use. In consultations with government leading up to the Energy White Paper in February 2003, we argued that nuclear power should not form part of our future energy mix.
