Prosperity: a sustainable economy for the future

16 July 2009
Royal College of Physicians, London

The recession has made us question the way our economy creates prosperity. There is no long-term route out of the current circumstances without successful action on climate change and energy security. But while Barack Obama has made this a central feature of the US response to the economic recession, the UK has been slower and less ambitious in making the connection.

prosperityimage2In the week the government published its Low Carbon Transition Paper, this broad debate with a high level cross-sectoral audience explored what the critical state of Britain’s public finances means for public policy and how to make the shift to a financially stable and low carbon economy.

We launched our pamphlet From crisis to recovery: new economic policies for a low carbon future at the event.
