Summary

Following the commitments made at the Paris climate agreement in December 2015, the shift towards a low carbon economy is already well under way and stepping up a gear.

There are, however, worrying signs that the UK is losing its lead on low carbon generation, energy efficiency and carbon capture markets due to energy policy u-turns, which is having an impact on its global ranking and market share.

This analysis makes recommendations for how the government can restore the UK as market leader.
