Greener UK is a group of 14 major environmental organisations, with a combined public membership of over eight million. The coalition was launched in December 2016, united in the belief that leaving the EU is a pivotal moment to restore and enhance the UK’s environment.
Green Alliance is a founding member of Greener UK and hosts the Greener UK unit, which co-ordinates the coalition, leading on strategy development and delivery on behalf of the Greener UK board. The board is chaired by Shaun Spiers, executive director of Green Alliance.
The coalition is closely following the progress of Brexit, working with MPs and peers, providing expert advisory on amendments to strengthen the legislation to ensure vital environmental protections are not lost as the UK exits the EU.
Greener UK's ‘Pledge for the Environment’ has been signed by 187 MPs of all parties. They have committed to do everything in their power to ensure the UK is a world leader on environmental protection and climate change and has a countryside richer in nature.
The Brexit risk tracker is providing detailed quarterly updates on the status of eight specific policy areas throughout the Brexit process.
